Florence Griffith-Joyner

Florence Griffith-Joyner

She was an American athlete born in December 21, 1959. Her nickname was Flo-Jo and her events were Track and Field athlete and also sprint events. She had a tendinitis in her right leg and also quadriceps muscle injuries which stopped her sports career. She won the James E. Sullivan Award as top amateur athlete in 1988. She was designing basketball uniforms for Indiana Pacers in 1989 as another activity that she was engaged in. She died in her sleep of epilepsy, while others said it was suffocation during an epileptic seizure. She was accused of using performance enhancing drugs, growth hormones and steroids. She was 38 when she died. She was married to Al Joyner and had one daughter, Mary Ruth Joyner, who was a singer, dancer and musician. My favorite female sports person is Alex Morgan, an American soccer player.
